The agricultural leases data set was built using semi-automated mapping procedures. Records pertaining to land parcels participating in agricultural leases were extracted from the Land Information Management System (LIMS). These records were processed, using the State Land Office's Land Use Map Automation System (LUMAS), which copies NM State Trust Lands surface ownership data (based on the BLM's CADNSDI Version 2 PLSS data) and places the polygons into the parent Agricultural Lease layer. The parent layer contains leases at the PLSS subdivision level. The subject data set was built by dissolving the parent data set on the full lease identifier (UNIQUEKEY) while simultaneously retaining certain attributes from the parent data. Note: There are no boundary descriptions for individual leases. If a lease occurs anywhere within a PLSS subdivision, the entire subdivision-level polygon is used. There may be overlapping polygons as a result, even though the leases are in separate locations.
